Do you love a quickie?

Oh, you say, you mean hot, sweaty sex with my man? Down and dirty and do-it-to-me before the kids come home or my mother calls back. (God help me if she tracks the GPS on my cell phone to the bedroom).

No…not exactly.

I mean quickie shorts.

Oh, you say again, you mean the shorts that cut into my butt crack that I haven’t been able to zip up since high school?

No…still not right.

I mean a quick fix for what ails you.

Oh, you say, trying again, biting on a hangnail, you mean a mocha cookie crumble frappuccino®?

No…but you’re making me crazy for a quick trip to Starbucks after I finish writing this blog, so I’ll make it short.

As in Short Story.

Today is International Short Story Day. According to their website: “On the shortest night of the year, June 20th 2012, writers, readers and publishers are again joining forces to celebrate the short story on International Short Story Day.”

To celebrate, I’ve listed my erotic short story “Breaking the Rules” as FREE on Amazon Kindle.

Elaine is a rules-kind-of-girl, whether it’s at work or in the bedroom. She sets out on a journey of self-discovery when she meets the Hunter, who shows her that rules are made to be broken.

This erotic short story is about a working girl who learns you have to ask for what you want.

At work…or in bed.

He whispered in her ear what he wanted her to do, and it was naughty, so naughty. In response, she pushed her pussy up toward him in rhythmic thrusts, allowing her to get lost in the moment. Elaine didn’t care what happened as long as he continued to rub her hard bud glowing deep within her. The sensations were almost more than she could bear, her body swaying back and forth, reeling with the sublime pleasure this man gave her.

“Oh, it feels good, so good,” she moaned.

“Do you want me to keep going, Elaine?” asked the Hunter, slowing down. The burning flame inside her started to ebb…flicker. “I can stop, if you’re uncomfortable.”

She froze. No, he couldn’t do that to her. He couldn’t! Not when she was experiencing such delicious sensations.

“I–I…” she sputtered. Nothing more came out.

Say it, girl! Tell him you want him to keep going.

But she couldn’t.

For all her bravado, Elaine couldn’t ask for what she wanted.

Writing a short story is an art, like making a soufflé or perfect scrambled eggs or giving your man oral sex that drives him crazy. Here are some short story writers whose works are timeless:

Edgar Allan Poe, who wrote sixty-five short stories, including The Pit and the Pendulum; O. Henry’s witty shorts, including The Last Leaf; F. Scott Fitzgerald, who coined the term the Jazz Age; Dorothy Parker’s timeless lament of every single girl, The Telephone Call; and my personal fave, Anita Loos, whose Gentleman Prefer Blondes began as a series of short stories in Harper’s Bazaar with a naughty chick heroine named Lorelei Lee.

So the next time you want a quickie, let your fingers do the work (and his, too, if you’re into that while you’re reading), and download a short story.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I hear there’s a frappuccino® with my name on it waiting for me…

Ciao and happy reading!

We all remember when Cinderella eased her dainty toes into a slipper made of clear glass. She went from being a commoner with a borrowed gown sewn by clever little mice to a dazzling princess and the happily-ever-after ending we all dream about.

Or was it a stiletto?

It couldn’t have been a ballet flat, could it? What type of shoe do romance heroines wear in the land of fairy tales?

Or better yet, what if the fairy tale is real?

Mmm…this reporter is anxiously awaiting to see what shoes Kate Middleton will wear on her upcoming wedding day when she marries Prince William. Classic white satin pumps would be the elegant choice with princesslike appeal.

But there are so many choices available to this modern-day Cinderella.

What do you think?

I’ve put together some shoe suggestions with the pros and cons:

Stilettos: Kate and William are both tall; she could get away with it, but what will the Queen say? Off with her head?

High-heeled sandals: It’s spring in London, but bare toes for Kate in Westminster Abbey could be a chilly proposition.

Boots: snug, button-up or laced white boots with a curved heel would be very Victorian and flirty–and definitely wouldn’t come off Kate’s slender foot. It’s a possibility…

Ballet flats: Cute, comfy and dreamlike. Like a ballet sequence with Kate as the elegant white swan captivating everyone…including her prince.

Sky-high wedgies: Kate is a clever fashionista, but this edgy look may miss the mark with British fashion reporters who like a more upmarket look.

Athletic shoes: no, no, no!

Cleopatra roman sandals: very sexy if Kate gets a great pedicure and fit for a future queen.

Classic satin pumps: Sophisticated lady with “people appeal” like Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana. Kate can’t go wrong here.

Let’s hope that after the ceremony when Kate climbs into the fancy landau royal carriage with the sumptuous red interior, she won’t lose her slipper.

But then it won’t matter, will it?

She’ll already have her Prince Charming…I mean, William.

So, what type of shoes does your romance heroine wear?

How well do you know your hero? Is he tall, dark and handsome? Okay, so you don’t want a cookie-cutter hero, but have you really thought about what questions to ask him?

(When you can take your eyes away from his sexy grin among other parts of his anatomy.)

This reporter recently interviewed heroines for a romance gig and got some very interesting answers.

Now, it’s your hero’s turn. Ready, ladies? Start your engines…

Here are my 5 Job Tips for a great romance novel hero interview:

1. Don’t ask him to take off his shirt. Tempting, yes, as you check out his muscular arms, but this is a sexist attitude that will get you nowhere. (But oh the fun you’ll have trying!)

2. Schedule the interview in a locale where you’ll both feel comfortable. Not in a sports bar where he can eyeball the basketball scores and the waitresses with the deep cleavage. Forget tea shops that serve lemon dainties, unless you’re writing a regency and you want to see if he exudes the proper Mr. Darcy-isms.

3. Ask him to show you his…wheels. Yes, I said, wheels. Is he a Harley guy? Jaguar? Or does he drive an old pickup? Does he keep half his “stuff” in his car? Or is he a neatnik? You can tell a lot about a man by his…wheels.

4. What’s his day job? Or if he’s into night work (and what hard-working vampire isn’t?), you’ll want to make sure he’s a good match for your heroine. If she’s a lawyer, a police detective can make her life hectic; if she runs a cake and bake shop, how about interviewing a land developer who wants to tear down her vintage cottage shop? And let’s not forget the city gal who’s just aching to meet up with a real cowboy. Just make sure he can ride…a horse.

5. And finally, don’t ask him if he’s a good kisser. Tell him to show you.

by Lady Carlton née Katie O’Roarke, heroine of The Blonde Samurai”

I take up my pen today not to write my romance, but to impart to you news, important news that has reached me in my place of solitude where I deign to call myself a novelist.

Morning sunlight, wiggling through the petit-point pattern on the lacy curtain, hovers over my shoulder to see what I’m writing.  A red-breasted robin fluttering about on the window sill holds its breath, pen scratchings fill my ears.

I am beside myself with excitement, spilling blue ink on my gown and smudging the fine rice paper upon which I write with dirty fingerprints, but I know you shall forgive me for word has reached me that my memoir, The Blonde Samurai, has found its way to faraway shores.

To Italy.

A place where–

The romance of carnival and exquisite masks enchants the eye.

The sacred mount of the holy saints restores one’s faith.

The musical language of the arts and literature delights the ear and enriches the soul.

I must recount to you how pleased I am that the story of this Irish-American lass and her samurai has made its way to such a grand place.

Here then is the visual and audio presentation in Italian of the publisher’s synopsis of “Bionda Samurai” (available May 13th).  Grazie!

Postscript:  I have also included the English translation for you:

“During the latter part of the nineteenth century, a beautiful and fascinating American woman named Katie is about to release her memoir with more than a hint to scandal, a scandal that will unleash an uproar in Society.

“She is determined to recount her adventures in every detail, from the electrifying moments to the salacious, her life ruled by her insatiable appetite for all things sensual.  Her story takes us from London to Japan, where the journey takes you through a maze of raw and vivid eroticism.

“Tantalizing and provocative scenes of sensuality await you in Japan.  This is the return of class because Jina Bacarr (author of The Blonde Geisha” and “Cleopatra’s Perfume“) puts forward with her usual skill a story that is unique and has earned her millions of readers around the world, her themes more endearing and bold with provocative situations raw and sexy but always romantic.

by Lady Carlton née Katie O’Roarke, heroine of The Blonde Samurai”

I spoke in my previous post about the act of deflowering a virgin  and indeed I promised to enliven you with a most interesting posting of how it is done in Japan.

Without compromise, I shall deliver as promised.

During the defloration ceremony, the gentleman acts like a male honeybee.  He cracks open three eggs and swallows the yolks then rubs the whites between the lady’s thighs.  Then he wiggles his fingers slippery with the egg whites inside her.  A little deeper each night so that by the end of  the week, the lady is accustomed to the ritual and is very relaxed and ready for the act of making love.

Controversial, yes, but I must explain to you that virginity does not possess the same sanctity in Japan as it does in our society since the Japanese consider sex a natural act and relegate it to a part of their lives where no sin exists for indulgence in pleasure.  They retain an open and a natural approach toward sex and thereby their attitude is–

If the vase must break, make it as easy as possible…

I lost control of my pen as I wrote those words, dear lady reader, trying as I am to remain emotionally detached from this post since I feel it is important to discuss this subject with you since so many young brides approach their wedding night with nary an idea of what to expect.  As my own dear mother told me:

“So you can understand why I smiled when, after the lavish wedding reception, my mother kissed me on both cheeks and whispered in my ear I could loosen my night corset but not remove it.  And if I lay very still, she assured me in an even voice, it would all be over quickly.”

If I may speak plainly (as I always do), I admit I hesitated to write a posting on the subject of virginity since my own experience was outside the rules of convention.  Wild, raucous scenes from my wedding night come to mind, whips flying, nude buttocks up in the air, females shrieking…yet I remained a virgin as evidenced by what I wrote in my memoir, The Blonde Samurai:

“But I was, at this moment, still a virgin and untouched by any man. I have nothing to gain here by delivering an untruth to you. Still, I prayed my virginity was intact, for a wild idea was forming in my brain, a way to save my virtue and my pride. But without proof of my purity, I had nothing to bargain with, for his lordship had made a contract for a virgin and I feared more wrath from him if he didn’t believe me untouched.”

‘Tis true I arrived in Japan a virgin bride.  But that all changed when I met Shintaro.  I found the deflowering experience with him exhilarating and unique of our love and passion for each other.  I felt adored, desired, empowered.  I shall ne’er forget his devotion to making my journey to womanhood a wondrous and melodious joy that enveloped both my spiritual and physical self.

So I offer you this solution if you are yet a virgin: choose a worthy and sincere gentleman with experience and allow him to seduce you before your wedding night.

And if you are not a virgin, why not engage your husband or your lover in the deflowering ceremony as it is done in Japan?

Seven days of teasing and foreplay, slippery fingers inserted into you, probing and exciting you.

What could be more delicious?  And naughty…

The only difficulty will be explaining to Cook what happened to all her fresh eggs.

"The Blonde Samurai"

Exciting news!!

My new Harlequin Spice, The BLONDE SAMURAI, has been chosen as the Fresh Pick for today, Friday, February 19th at FreshFiction.com

The Blonde Samurai appears on every page of the FreshFiction.com website today and also in the Fresh Pick Newsletter.

I’m very honored to be a Fresh Pick.  According to the email I received–

“The Fresh Pick is chosen by a group of readers…”

Writing is a solitary profession, but I can tell you that as a writer, my characters make me laugh, angry at times (when they don’t do what you tell them) and cry.

I remember feeling the anguish of my heroine, Katie, when she feared she would never have a child; or how much she missed her Irish-American family when she first arrived in Japan; how the inimitable Mr. Fawkes (an Englishman who was her go-between) made her laugh; and how amazed she was to discover that the Empress of Japan was a charming young woman who shared her interest in fashion.

Then there was Shintaro.

“Yet the first man I took to my bed after my wedding night was not my husband—or yours—but one of the most mysterious, elusive and enigmatic men in all Japan. A samurai.

“His name was Shintaro.”

I’m thrilled that the readers at FreshFiction.com also enjoyed the adventures of Lady Carlton née Katie O’Roarke.  Thank you!!
